Summary

Responsible for the overall education and adult learning programs produced by the organization. Works with others within management, partners, and members to provide the appropriate results in a cost effective manner. This person must understand day-to-day operations as well as anticipate needs 3+ years out.

Responsibilities

  • An integral member of the Management Team and a significant contributor to developing and implementing the organization’s strategic direction and overall day-to-day management
  • Provide leadership around learning and education products and services that provide for member needs – both current and anticipated. Work in partnership with appropriate co-workers to ensure that these products and services are properly integrated within the organization’s various product lines.
  • Manage team members for education, whether face-to-face or virtual, and related projects; assembles cross-functional teams to work on projects and plans and schedules the timing of projects as appropriate.
  • Support the organization’s vision, business goals and organizational needs through the identification and continued development of the most appropriate education and learning product solutions.
  • Provides leadership for maintaining an external positive image for all aspects of the organization.
  • Continually seek opportunities to promote the brand and any sub-brands.
  • Provide support and ensure proper use of educational and learning material throughout the organization.
  • Maintain a clear understanding of emerging member trends and be prepared to implement appropriate new strategies quickly enough to maintain a competitive advantage.
  • Provides leadership; consults with other management team members on support on issues to improve customer service, identify new revenue opportunities, reduce costs, increase productivity, mergers and acquisitions, etc.
  • Assure the adherence to the operating and capital budgets.
  • Assist with other projects/tasks/duties as required – e.g. acquisitions, re-engineering projects, etc.

 

Qualifications

Mandatory qualifications:

  • Extensive experience with adult learning programs and theories.
  • Excellent judgment skills. 
  • Ability to supervise, coach, and review personnel.
  • Extremely strong customer service orientation. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to create and work in a team environment.
  • Excellent tactful and persuasive communication skills, including verbal (telephone and in-person) and written.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills. 
  • Excellent consultative skills. 
  • Proven track record of hiring top performers. 
  • Initiative; a self-starter; high energy level. 
  • Professional conduct and appearance. 
  • Excellent ethics and integrity. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, adult education, business, or related field; or equivalent experience

 

Desirable qualifications

Not mandatory:

  • Graduate degree.
  • Experience with multi-national, multi-cultural organizations.
  • Experience in, and comfortable with, corporate dynamics.

Special considerations

  •  Average of 35% out-of-town overnight travel is required.
