Join ASUG to hear Tesoro Companies discuss their capital planning story with Aster Group and SAP BusinessObjects Planning and Consolidation (BPC). Tesoro implemented a solution to support their capital information management process leveraging Excel and OLAP technology and streamlined their process for capturing ideas from plant and project managers for capital expenditures. With SAP BPC, capital requests are evaluated and approved then integrated with SAP Projects for AFE number assignment.

Webcast participants will learn how Tesoro achieved a 50% reduction in time to produce their capital project report, dynamically updates data on capital projects, created reports containing actual/budget/forecast data, and significant reduced their report gathering efforts.

SAP’s new Capital Planning Accelerator for BPC will also be introduced. This jumpstart solution includes pre-built BPC components for creating, selection, analyzing, and evaluating capital plans.

Speakers
Eugene Nel, Principal Business Consultant IT, for Tesoro Companies has over 20 years of experience in financial systems. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant and originally from South Africa. Previously, he worked for Ernst & Young for 7 years in South Africa as a consultant and ran an Accounting and Consulting practice for 5 years. Following that, Eugene jointed SAP Southern Africa as a SAP R/3 FI/CO consultant where he worked for 5 years before moving to the USA in 2000. He has consulted in the US for Alti, Inc. as a Financial Solutions Manager, and assisted The Gillette Company with their worldwide consolidation implementation as the SME for Consolidations. He currently works at Tesoro and was part of the selection team for the SAP BPC software and became the Project Manager for both SAP BPC projects: Tesoro’s Capital Planning System and their Consolidation Implementation.

Rick Cobb, President and Co-Founder of Aster Group, has over a 17 years of IT experience. Previously, Rick worked for Premier Systems Integrators, which was subsequently purchased by Dimension Data.
