Description

Guess who's influencing? The Semantic Layer Influence Council is launching within the following Special Interest Groups (SIGs):

• BusinessObjects Data Management
• Enterprise Data Warehousing
• Emerging Advanced Analytics
• WebI/DeskI (including BusinessObjects Explorer)

The patented Business Objects semantic layer hides the complexity of underlying data sources, by providing a business representation of the enterprise data. The semantic layer lets users easily access information with simple business terms. The semantic layer also provides the business user a simple interface to perform powerful calculations, filtering and navigation in the enterprise data and the ability to mix it with personal data.

SAP is releasing a new major version of SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise which will be ramping up at the end of the year. The new product will be available in 2011. In this release, there will be major changes to the Semantic Layer architecture and in subsequent releases SAP will add even new features

The purpose in forming this Influence Council to identify new requirements for the semantic layer, share the planned requirements, define alternative implementations to requirements and get them validated and prioritized by the customer group.

Speaker:

Pierpaolo Vezzosi, Solutions, SAP
