Integrated Data Design as the Foundation for the Shell SAP S/4HANA Journey
Evert Ruijs – Lead Design Authority, Shell
Over the next 10 years, Shell will transform its ERP landscape. The transition is not just an “asset integrity” play (being forced to upgrade), but an opportunity to transform Shell’s core processes. The objective is to become simpler and agile.
Shell will be moving from 30 ERPs with a variable design to an SAP S/4HANA landscape with multiple instances and tenants sharing a common design, which includes common data definitions and seamless data flows. As the journey will likely be a marathon, Shell must prepare and become “match fit.” A big part of that is related to data.
In this presentation, you will hear what activities Shell has started. This includes progress on our efforts to deliver a common data model across the ERP landscape (with also the emphasis on adopting industry standards), our view on how we will drive the implementation of the data model (not just in the ERP), and also how we prepare for the data clean-up and supporting data management processes in the run-up to implementation.
