Each month in 2018, our ONE.Source community will feature one or two topics to feature across the month. If you missed it, our focuses thus far have been Logistics (January) and Integration (February). Now on to March...

General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, and Accounts Payable -- these three modules may not be the most glamorous of all the functional areas in SAP Business One, but they are critical to running your business profitably and optimizing your cash flows. These modules offer a number of ways to streamline your business operations and help manage the effectiveness of your accounting and financial teams.

March Means More Efficient Financials

Getting paid on time and paying your accounts are critical components of a healthy business. Our ONE.Source curriculum is designed specifically around these key areas that sit under the bracket of financial management and the best practices that are available for you to leverage inside your business. This month, we'll look at how you can utilize functionality in SAP Business One to manage these three critical areas more efficiently.

Whether it’s the basics around the core functionality reporting and business processes or taking the next step around refining and enhancing how you use the modules across your finance department, we'll be making sure that we deliver a series of posts, videos, and queries that will enable you to deploy the best practices that will help you utilise SAP Business One financials to drive better cash flows visibility of information and operations.

In addition to our blogs, video tutorials, and community forum, the heartbeat of our ONE.Source curriculum is our series of webcasts.

Core Sessions on Core Functionality

As we explore GL, AP, AR, and Financial Operations, we will continue our monthly Ask the Expert session (led by yours truly) as well as our Insights and Updates from SAP (presented this month by Michael Cardi).

Additionally, I will be presenting a second webcast on Branch Capabilities in SAP Business One. This session will drill down on making the most of enhanced Branch capabilitities and  look at some of the next enhancements that are part of SAP Business One version 9.x and 9.3, such as Advanced GL Account Determination, Cost Centre Accounting, Budgeting, and more.

Customer Insights from Our Community

We will also continue our tradition of featuring the customer perspective with a great story from Gaumard Scientific about their experience deploying Purchasing and Inventory Control after Sales and Financials. M. Cristina Ramirez, Gaumard's SAP Administrator, will share their deployment challenges, including migrating from excel, discontinuing manual purchasing, and incorporating purchasing and inventory control after sales and financials. She will also share how these issues were addressed and resolved so you can avoid making the same mistakes they encountered.

We still have room in our calendar towards the end of the month for more customer stories, or to highlight partner solutions, so please contact us if you have a story to tell. Customers can earn a free ASUG membership as our thank you for contributing to our community your lessons learned.

Getting Started with the Basics

To get you started and review the basics, take a look at our latest tutorial video in our 15-minute fundamentals basic training series, which covers the basics of building your general ledger chart of accounts. Later this month, we'll add another video on budgeting with SAP Business One.

Additionally, here's an example of how Advanced G/L Determination kicked off in the Inventory side of the picture:

Or if you first need to establish a grounding in the basics of these modules, ASUG provides a series of product overview videos that I recorded a few years back. Below is just one example, while the rest can be found as part of ASUG's ONE.Source video library.

As always, we want to shape our curriculum around the needs and wants of our community, so do not hestitate to ask a question or request a topic. The best place to do that is in our ONE.Source community forum. There are established discussion threads dedicated to our Ask the Expert and SAP Insights webcasts, or you can ask a general question.
