Abstract:

The Office of State Rev­enue, or OSR, is part of Queens­land Trea­sury, a pub­lic-sec­tor agency in Queens­land, Australia. 

OSR plays a crit­i­cal role in deliv­er­ing sim­ple, effi­cient and equi­table rev­enue man­age­ment ser­vices. OSR admin­is­ters a range of state tax­es and min­ing and petro­le­um roy­al­ties total­ly approx­i­mate­ly $17 bil­lion.  This rev­enue helps fund essen­tial com­mu­ni­ty ser­vices and infrastructure. 

This ses­sion will address:

• Key busi­ness dri­vers that led to OSR want­i­ng to trans­form its busi­ness model
• The impor­tance of com­plet­ing ground work before the trans­for­ma­tion commences
• What is the imple­men­ta­tion approach?
• How OSR is man­ag­ing inno­va­tion; under­stand­ing inno­va­tion as a con­tin­u­ous cycle
• Cur­rent and antic­i­pat­ed ben­e­fits from the program

Par­tic­i­pants in this ses­sion will ben­e­fit by learn­ing about how Machine Learn­ing Tax Insights, C/4HANA, SAP Data Hub, and the OSR Tax Por­tal fit togeth­er. They will learn how OSR is using dis­rup­tive tech­nolo­gies such as intel­li­gent process automa­tion and AI based tax­pay­er voice recog­ni­tion services.

Speak­er Bios:

Simon is a Deputy Com­mis­sion­er in the Office of State Rev­enue (OSR), Queens­land Trea­sury, and a mem­ber of the Senior Exec­u­tive Team. 

Simon has over 20 years’ expe­ri­ence across all rev­enue lines and func­tions in State rev­enue offices, and Trea­sury func­tions includ­ing pol­i­cy devel­op­ment and port­fo­lio reviews.

Simon’s respon­si­bil­i­ties are to lead the enabling divi­sions of OSR, includ­ing infor­ma­tion tech­nol­o­gy ser­vices, risk and ana­lyt­ics func­tions, and the OSR Trans­for­ma­tion Program.

Kather­ine is the Pro­gram Direc­tor for the Office of State Rev­enue Trans­for­ma­tion Pro­gram, and is respon­si­ble for trans­form­ing OSR into a client cen­tric, dig­i­tal­ly enabled and data dri­ven organisation.

Kather­ine has direct­ed and led mul­ti­ple dig­i­tal trans­for­ma­tion pro­grams, from devel­op­ment of busi­ness case, to board approval and sub­se­quent pro­gram delivery.
