The purpose of this Think Tank is to generate interest and dialogue to design (and potentially build) new processes for automation of project closing, capitalizing assets, and recognition of revenue, instrumented using robotics process automation (RPA) including—but not limited to—SAP RPA.

Please be prepared to describe how your organization automates project closing, assets in service, and/or recognition of revenue processes, including automation tools utilized. What was key to success?

The format for Tuesday, June 16 at 9 a.m. CT will include:

  • Brief welcome and kickoff from ASUG

  • Rapid case study led by ASUG member Kent Bettisworth

  • The discussion will focus on:

  • Identify keys to success and what caused failed automation

  • Identify automation tools that can/are being used to raise awareness of factors

  • Influences on project closing, assets-in-service, and/or recognition of revenue processes

  • Sharing of recent wins or successes, along with resources utilized

Gain visibility into the challenges and successes other SAP customers are experiencing, and acquire new ideas for real-world solutions.

If you are experiencing challenges and would like to lead your own case study, fill out the survey here

Think Tank Insights:

  • Implementing/utilizing RPA is a marathon, not a sprint. Treat it as a series of discrete steps where each individual step has a payoff

  • If we can automate autonomous fighter jets, we can automate back office processes as well. People creating back offices processes should be working in step with engineers working on tech to utilize intelligent technology in similar ways

  • At most organizations in A&D, in a use case for RPA, ROI must be very high to be competitive

  • Key to successful COE = structure

  • Automating processes doesn’t take away jobs, it allows employees to focus efforts on more meaningful work
