There are many reasons for optimizing your current SAP setup. For example, the business model may have changed or companies may want to take advantage of new functionality such as the New General Ledger (New GL) or, more recently S/4HANA. Also, the company may have subsequently made a number of acquisitions which don’t fit their original system design but were bolted onto the original configuration anyway, or the company may have evolved in a different direction and their original SAP blueprint is no longer appropriate in the current climate. There is also the common issue of SAP not being well implemented due to time pressure, too much customization, or a poor implementation approach.
