We will look at the upcom­ing USM­CA free-trade agree­ments and the con­sid­er­a­tions that com­pa­nies with GTS need to make. Dur­ing this ses­sion we will look at any obser­va­tions on the new rules of ori­gins and where GTS might lack func­tion­al­i­ty. This is an oppor­tu­ni­ty for mem­ber com­pa­nies to join togeth­er and dis­cuss their con­cerns and obser­va­tions on the new free-trade agreement. 

The for­mat for Tues­day, April 14 at 12:30 p.m. CT will include: 

  • Rapid case study led by ASUG mem­ber Bob Adams from Deloitte

  • Where com­pa­nies are in the process of get­ting ready for USMCA 

  • Dif­fer­ences between NAF­TA and USMCA 

  • Any obser­va­tion on the func­tion­al­i­ty pro­vid­ed in GTS for USM­CA or rules of ori­gin from con­tent providers 

  • Shar­ing of recent wins or suc­cess­es, along with resources utilized 

Insights:

  • New form for USM­CA include require­ments that cer­tifi­cate con­tain nine (9) min­i­mum data elements
  • Com­pa­nies are expe­ri­enc­ing chal­lenges doc­u­ment­ing and track­ing audit­ing prac­tices; requires more doc­u­men­ta­tion that past iterations
  • Mate­r­i­al clas­si­fi­ca­tion require­ments vary depend­ing on country
