In October 2019, C&J Energy Services and Keane Group Inc. merged to create NexTier Oilfield Solutions Inc. After the merger, NexTier decided to use SAP S/4HANA as a common platform to standardize processes and drive synergies amounting over $120 million.

Accenture partnered with NexTier to transition to an enterprise-wide system using SAP S/4HANA. Together, they implemented the new system in a record 14 weeks during “Wave 1 Go Live”, applying an agile delivery approach. During this time, it moved wireline, cement, and frac business to SAP, while setting up a super user network.

Transitioning Keane Group’s legacy system to SAP S/4HANA helped NexTier work more effectively and strategically.

NexTier will discuss how it improved and simplified its reporting, workflow, manual effort, audit and system controls, accounts payable processes, supply chain efficiencies, and experienced a reduction in IT customization by using SAP S/4HANA.

Key takeaways:

Accelerate your merger synergies by getting to one ERP faster.

Establish a super user network early to ensure project success.

Focus on change management and data migration to finish projects on time and under budget.
