The IRS FIRE sys­tem will be retired effec­tive Decem­ber 31, 2026. Begin­ning with Tax Year 2026 fil­ings (sub­mit­ted in 2027), applic­a­ble infor­ma­tion returns must be filed through IRIS. This reg­u­la­to­ry change impacts SAP HCM cus­tomers report­ing Forms 1099‑R and 1042‑S and requires orga­ni­za­tions to under­stand new fil­ing process­es, reg­is­tra­tion require­ments, and SAP solu­tion updates.
