Last week, SAP Sapphire and ASUG Accelerate returned to Orlando – the first time the event has been hosted in three years. Between the networking opportunities and keynotes, there was a deluge of announcements from SAP across its entire portfolio. These innovations and announcements are aimed at helping SAP customers become more agile, responsive enterprises, and conduct business in a fluid business environment. Here are some of the biggest announcements that came out of SAP Sapphire and ASUG Accelerate.

SAP and Apple Codevelop Apps For Digital Supply Chain

SAP has been working with Apple to release applications making use of the latest updates and innovations to the Apple operating system: iOS. During the conference, the two software companies unveiled a new suite of mobile applications focused on the digital supply chain.

SAP Warehouse Operator, an application for SAP Extended Warehouse Management, is an application that gives warehouse workers access to more intelligence and information as they go about their routine duties. Some noteworthy functionalities include improved location awareness, insights on the availability of resources (like forklifts), and bar scanning capabilities.

The companies also release SAP Direct Distribution, an application for delivery drivers that allows them to execute paperless goods delivery on their daily route.” A few key capabilities include the ability to digitize delivery drier workflow and mitigating order-to-cash time. These innovations not only streamline and simplify the delivery process but also reduce human error.

Both SAP Warehouse Operator and SAP Direct Distribution are available for iOS devices in the Apple App Store.

Extended SAP Cloud for Sustainable Enterprises Capabilities

Earlier this year, SAP released SAP Cloud for Sustainable Enterprises, a suite of solutions aimed at helping organizations track and manage their enterprise’s sustainability performance – a notion known as the green line.” During SAP Sapphire and ASUG Accelerate, SAP announced two innovations to SAP Cloud for Sustainable Enterprises.

SAP Product Footprint Management is a solution that connects with SAP S/4HANA and allows users to track the CO2 output associated with a product, as given extended capabilities, including transportation and travel tracking. Moreover, the solution tackles emissions data tracking and implementing API specifications developed as part of the World Business Council Develop (WBCSD) Partnership for Carbon Transparency (PACT).

SAP also added new capabilities to SAP Responsible Design and Production, a solution aimed at helping SAP customers to manage and calculate their extended producer responsibility (EPR) obligations. These actions allow enterprises to eliminate waste and deliver on corporate commitments. The solution was extended to incorporate plastic taxes, such as those introduced and implemented in the United Kingdom.

SAP and Accenture Partnership

One of the key themes throughout the conference was SAP discussing new and existing partnerships it has with other organizations. During his keynote address, SAP CEO Christian Klein touched on one of those partnerships. About a week before SAP Sapphire and ASUG Accelerate kicked off, SAP announced a new joint offering

The offering combines RISE with SAP – the SAP offering designed to simplify its customers’ migrations to the cloud and SAP S/4HANA. Focused on larger enterprises, this partnership will not only give customers a clean core on SAP S/4HANA but will also give them access to the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), cloud infrastructure management, and cloud-native solutions. An interesting wrinkle to come out of this announcement is that Accenture will actually deploy RISE with SAP.

SOAR with Accenture is a great complement to RISE with SAP, our cloud-based solution to drive business innovation,” Klein said in a blog post about this offering. It enables enterprises with large and complex IT landscapes to accelerate and simplify their business transformation journey while benefitting from the full value of RISE with SAP. Together, Accenture and SAP provide a comprehensive solution to support our customers in becoming intelligent and sustainable enterprises.”

ASUG will be covering these announcements along with many of the other ones unveiled at SAP Sapphire and ASUG Accelerate in the coming weeks. Stick with us for more stories and information.
