Artificial intelligence took center stage at a recent ASUG Southern California Chapter Meeting.

Held April 17 at the Aliso Viejo Country Club in Orange County, CA, the meeting brought together SAP customers, partners, and thought leaders to network and discuss key topics in the ASUG Member ecosystem, including the combined potential of SAP Signavio and LeanIX, the importance of considering SAP security, and a host of topics around the business potential of generative AI.

Kicking things off was Paul McCann, IBM System Sales Manager; in his keynote, Choosing the Right Gen AI Cloud Platform for Your SAP Workloads, McCann covered clean core technology and IBM’s AI roadmap for ERP. McCann left no stone unturned in emphasizing the paramount importance of reliability, flexibility, and high security in AI.

Next, attendees heard from Anurag Barua, SAP Transformation Leader, who offered a high-level introduction to SAP AI solutions. Illuminating the company’s collaborative efforts with top AI vendors like IBM, AWS, and Microsoft, Barua emphasized the "Three Rs" for AI in SAP: Relevance, Reliability, and Responsibility. Barua further advocated for AI's role in empowering workers with real, accurate data for heightened customer trust.

The day concluded with an array of insightful presentations from thought leaders, including:

  • Transform Your Intelligent Enterprise with SAP Signavio and LeanIX, led by Lane Leskela, Senior Director of North America Business Development for SAP Business Process Transformation, who highlighted the processes supporting transformation, from strategy to operations, and discussed the ability of SAP Signavio and LeanIX to seamlessly integrate business and IT functions from end to end.
  • From Risk to Resilience, led by Sameer Gandhi, Managing Partner and Vice President of Business Transformation at Amick Brown, who provided a roadmap to enhancing security across operating systems.
  • Navigating the RISE with SAP Migration and Modernization Program: Exploring the Initiative's Benefits, led by Rob Seifert, SAP S/4HANA Cloud Senior Solution Advisor at SAP, who focused on the complex terrain of migrating to SAP S/4HANA Cloud with RISE with SAP and discussed the recently announced RISE program, featuring financial incentives and guided support.

In between networking breaks, these presentations and others sparked animated discussions about the SAP product roadmap and potential use cases for business AI, in addition to other key technology topics. The slides from all available presentations can be accessed in the event’s content library.
