SAP Order Management System (OMS) offers deep functionality, supporting everything from pricing and promotions to sourcing and fulfillment. But for many organizations, those capabilities can be difficult to access efficiently at the point of execution.

Navigating SAP GUI or Fiori often requires switching between screens, managing multiple transaction codes, and completing a long sequence of steps for even basic tasks. The result is slower onboarding, inconsistent workflows, and underused system potential.

DataXstream built OMS+ to reduce that friction. What began as a consulting engagement to simplify a customer’s order workflow quickly became a recurring theme: multiple organizations were requesting similar fixes for similar problems.

Rather than replacing SAP’s native OMS components, OMS+ unifies them into a streamlined interface designed for speed, ease of use, and frontline relevance. Whether a business is on ECC, S/4HANA, or somewhere in transition, OMS+ offers a consistent user experience that simplifies order management without compromising SAP’s core power.

A Complementary Collaboration

The value of OMS+ becomes clearest in the moments when an order needs to be placed, changed, or fulfilled quickly. In native SAP, those moments can feel more complicated than they need to be.

OMS+ leverages, when necessary, key SAP order management components—Omnichannel Promotion Pricing Service (OPPS), Order Management for Sourcing and Availability (OMSA), and Order Management Foundation (OMF) to provide complete sales execution capabilities.

That collaboration isn’t just cosmetic. A five-line order that might take several minutes to finish in SAP can be handled in OMS+ in under 45 seconds. That speed matters, especially in environments where time and accuracy drive both margins and service quality.

At the front counter, for example, a user can scan products, enter quantities, apply payment, and close out the transaction in a few clicks. Behind the scenes, OMS+ handles the same backend steps that SAP requires: posting goods, initiating delivery, and billing. But the end user doesn’t see any of that. For them, the process feels simple, direct, and fast.

OMS+ also integrates with SAP OMSA to enhance real-time sourcing and product availability checks, which allows users to access a broader view of sourcing options across multiple inventory pools and fulfillment nodes.

Other use cases show the same focus on real-world usability. When contractors place a large order for a multi-phase project, OMS+ supports staging documents that enable users to split and track deliveries by floor, room, or build stage without losing the connection to the original order. If inventory is spread across multiple sites, users can reassign sourcing with a few clicks; what would usually require updating each line item manually in SAP can be done in seconds.

Meanwhile, the Customer Overview screen pulls in sales data, customer-specific part numbers, credit status, and open transactions all in one place. For instance, users can interact directly with the data, filtering for items such as delivery blocks to quickly identify problems and prioritize follow-up.

What ties these use cases together is simple: make SAP OMS capabilities easier to use and surface key information the moment it’s needed, allowing teams to move faster and serve customers with more confidence.

Real Impact in the Field

At Pacific Coast Building Products, Inc., the shift to OMS+ had a dramatic effect on training. What had once required four months of training could now be covered in just four days. Instead of teaching users how to navigate SAP transaction codes or jump between screens, teams could focus directly on servicing customers.

Everyday tasks like finding alternate items, surfacing cross-sells, or checking inventory became intuitive, thanks to a design built around real user needs. That clarity also helped Pacific Coast unlock inventory value that would have otherwise gone unnoticed.

The company had a surplus specialty item, a material ordered in bulk for a custom job that wasn’t part of their typical stock. Before OMS+, that inventory wasn’t easily visible across locations and would likely have been written off. With OMS+, users could easily locate and act on available inventory, including edge cases like these.

For organizations with active quoting workflows, OMS+ introduces automation that helps prevent opportunities from slipping away. One customer saw an over 20% increase in quote-to-order conversion rates after implementing automated follow-up tasks. Sales reps were prompted to check in on open quotes before they went cold, improving consistency and helping more deals move forward.

OMS+ also extends its simplicity to the end customer. At ROXOR, the ordering portal gave buyers a direct way to place orders without going through a traditional sales channel. The streamlined experience allowed customers to complete transactions quickly and independently. As the platform expands, it supports more complex use cases and deeper integration across SAP’s evolving ecosystem, including impactful applications of AI.

A home improvement retailer needed a faster way to turn contractor blueprints into orders. Within two weeks, DataXstream deployed an AI model that could scan PDFs, identify rooms and square footage, and recommend materials, from drywall volumes to tape estimates. That logic was embedded directly into OMS+, enabling teams to transition from blueprint to bill of materials with minimal manual effort.

The work done on this solution contributed to DataXstream earning an SAP Pinnacle Award for Partner Innovation.

Bridge Gaps, Optimize Processes

For companies thinking ahead, whether planning a S/4HANA migration or managing a portfolio of acquired businesses with mixed ERP systems, OMS+ offers more than just usability. It provides continuity.

The interface remains consistent across ECC, S/4HANA, and both public and private cloud deployments, allowing teams to continue working without disruption, even during major backend transitions. A user might place their last order in ECC on a Friday, return on Monday to a newly implemented S/4HANA environment, and continue processing orders in OMS+ without missing a beat.

That consistency makes OMS+ a practical bridge in hybrid landscapes. Many SAP customers are still integrating systems post-acquisition, with fulfillment operations running across a combination of SAP and non-SAP ERPs.

OMS+ maintains a consistent front-end experience, even when the fulfillment logic runs through multiple ERPs in the background. That means companies don’t have to wait for full system consolidation before standardizing how their teams take and manage orders.

DataXstream continues to innovate, creating new avenues to optimize and capitalize on SAP investments via OMS+. Whether supporting system modernization, enabling operational agility, or powering AI-driven workflows, OMS+ is built to evolve.
