As an Independent Power Producer, NRG owns and/or operates more than 40 different facilities that carry inventory for maintenance and operations. Because cost is associated with each dollar of inventory carried in a warehouse due to staffing, tracking, taxes, and other items, we need to track approvals for addition or subtraction of each inventory item. For many years this was performed manually through obtaining and attaching email approvals, then manually creating or changing the material masters. We developed our Parts Portal to track approvals and facilitate material creation and changes, resulting in time saved in data entry and enhanced traceability of approvals.
