Abstract:

Robert (Bob) Park­er Group Vice Pres­i­dent at IDC will share the lat­est IDC research relat­ed to Dig­i­tal Trans­for­ma­tion (DX) — a trans­for­ma­tion that is enabled by the Inter­net of Things (IoT). The IoT allows orga­ni­za­tions to rein­vent exist­ing indus­try process­es, aug­ment how they engage with their cus­tomers, and accel­er­ate the speed at which they deliv­er their prod­ucts and ser­vices. This webi­nar will look at how these dig­i­tal strate­gies facil­i­tat­ed by the IoT are reshap­ing those indus­try seg­ments that are both asset-rich and focused on ser­vices rather than products.

The webi­nar will also high­light key chal­lenges com­pa­nies are fac­ing in imple­ment­ing a dig­i­tal strat­e­gy.  One key chal­lenge Bob will dis­cuss is the imple­men­ta­tion of a com­mon sys­tem for inno­va­tion that pro­vides scale, agili­ty at a man­age­able cost and why IDC believes that SAP Leonar­do is the solu­tion that will over­come the challenge.

Robert (Bob) Park­er is respon­si­ble for the glob­al research direc­tion of four indus­try prac­tices at IDC – Retail, Ener­gy, Man­u­fac­tur­ing, and Finan­cial Ser­vices.  Addi­tion­al­ly, Bob leads IDC’s research on Dig­i­tal Trans­for­ma­tion, coor­di­nat­ing our research strat­e­gy in this area across all groups and regions.

Bob has been in the research domain for over 15 years; join­ing IDC over ten years ago after spend­ing six years at AMR Research.  Pri­or to get­ting into research, Bob held sev­er­al oper­a­tional and IT man­age­ment posi­tions in Indus­try includ­ing serv­ing as the CIO at East­ern Tech­nolo­gies, a defense contractor.
