Faced with the need for a scalable and global Service Parts platform, as well as a lack of existing solutions that suited their needs, Ford Motor Co. opted to work with SAP to create the solution they needed. Ford, CAT and SAP joined forces to design and build SAP’s Service Parts Management module over the course of several years, with many lessons learned along the way.

Starting with a small rollout in a low volume commodity and eventually growing into leveraging the entire Service Parts Planning suite to plan all parts in North America, Ford encountered and overcame obstacles in moving data, governing data and balancing risk / complexity with the potential for broad insight.
