Geoffrey Scott | Chief Executive Officer

Geoff Scott is the chief executive officer for Americas' SAP Users' Group, the world's largest community of SAP professionals. He has more than two decades of experience as a chief information officer and senior IT leader.

Prior to his selection as CEO of ASUG, Geoff served as the chief information officer for TOMS Shoes. In this role, he held responsibility for global technology strategy, execution, and operations. This included leading the implementation of SAP for TOMS in September of 2012 with a team of more than 100 people.

Geoff also served as the chief information officer at JBS, the world's largest meat processor and distributor, where he was responsible for all aspects of enterprise information technology strategy, execution, and operations. Geoff also held senior leadership positions in marketing and sales, HR, and health care at Ford Motor Company.

Geoff has more than 20 years of ERP experience, including seven years of extensive SAP implementation and operations experience covering global operations. He has implemented SAP for a number of organizations of various sizes. His experience in the automotive, food, fashion/retail/apparel, and startup spaces brings unique and broad-based industry experience to ASUG.

He has experience with a number of SAP industry solutions — IS Oil, Catch Weight Management, Retail, and Apparel/Footwear. His supply chain focus was on eliminating waste, redundancies, and unnecessary costs while improving on-time performance, quality, and customer relationships. Geoff also worked closely with SAP on JBS's global purchases of SAP licenses.

Geoff has served on a number of philanthropic boards and was the founding member of the Denver CIO Executive Council. He holds a bachelor's degree in accounting, as well as an MBA from Michigan State University.

Anthony Bernard, CPA | Sr. VP of Operations

Anthony is responsible for the ASUG Communities and Volunteer Services teams, which includes the daily management of ASUG’s 38 chapters, 90+ Special Interest Groups, and 300+ volunteers, as well as ASUG’s Influence and Education teams. Prior to this role, Anthony was the ASUG Controller, where he provided leadership and strategic direction for all financial and operational functions, and directly oversaw finance, accounting, HR, and facilities. 

Anthony came to ASUG with more than 15 years’ experience in accounting and auditing in various industries. Most recently, he was finance manager at Videojet, where he provided accounting and financial reporting support to North America. He also executed audit and compliance activities for North America/Latin America, EMEA, and Asia regions to streamline global audit processes, including risk assessment execution. 

He received a Bachelor of Science in business administration from St. Joseph’s College of Maine and an MBA from DePaul University, as well as being a certified CPA.

Richard Booms | Sr. VP of Sales and Business Development

Rick and his team are responsible for membership growth and retention from both SAP licensees and partners participating in the ASUG community. Rick’s team works closely with members to help them drive growth, efficiency, and cost savings for their businesses through the ASUG community.

Rick joined ASUG in 2016 after spending more than 12 years working for Encyclopedia Britannica (the 240-year-old encyclopedia publisher). Beginning as an analyst and earning increasing responsibility in new business development, account retention, and sales operations and marketing, Rick played an integral role in the company’s successful transformation from a print-based business to a digital subscription model.

Rick is a graduate of Brown University and has an MBA from Notre Dame.

Michael Boyle | VP of Strategy

Mike is responsible for new business development initiatives and strategic direction at ASUG. His primary goals are to understand and engage with all ASUG stakeholders to determine needs-gaps and opportunities to better serve the ASUG community, both now and in the future.

Prior to joining ASUG in December 2016, Mike held various marketing leadership positions in the telecomm sector, with experience in launching commercial television stations in continental Europe, running a digital media agency in Stockholm, Sweden, and a 10-year run as a management consultant to Comcast.

Mike holds an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Ryan Cochran | Director of ASUG Digital

Ryan has been at the forefront of ASUG’s own digital transformation. From heading up the creation of the new to remastering the ASUG Chicago office to suit the organization’s needs, Ryan is responsible for ensuring that ASUG remains a digitally connected community 24/7/365.

Ryan is a graduate of the Colorado State University College of Health and Human Sciences and the Colorado State University College of Business. 


Chris Crone | Sr. VP of Strategic Communities and Relationships

Chris and her team’s current focus areas are: SAP S/4HANA, Human Capital Management (HCM), the Internet of Things (IoT), digital transformation, and several other foundational technologies and concepts for running SAP and related software.

Prior to joining ASUG, Chris was vice president of delivery for an SAP service partner, providing cloud and on-premise hosting and managed services solutions. Additionally, Chris held global IT and SAP leadership roles for several manufacturing companies and served seven years on the ASUG board of directors.

Greg Healy | CEO at Eventful Conferences

Greg is the CEO of Eventful Conferences, a company that powers like-minded people by connecting them to a network of peers experiencing the same business challenges and triumphs. Greg and the Eventful team do this by crafting world-class experiences that are rich in unparalleled content, researched with a passion not seen anywhere else.

Prior to this, Greg was CEO of The Eventful Group in Australia and oversaw the group’s growth in the U.S. and South Africa. Before that, Greg spent almost 20 years at Hewlett Packard in a variety of roles which included running enterprise sales and marketing. Preceding his career in the IT industry, Greg studied engineering and business before immersing in leadership development at IMD and Babson College. 

Originally from New Zealand, Greg is naturally a bit of a rugby tragic; however, he now enjoys travel, photography, and generally staying fit.

Steve Morris | Managing Partner at Eventful Conferences

Steve is responsible for production and growth at Eventful Conferences. The production team’s role is to run focused and extensive face-to-face customer research into niched industry or line-of-business ecosystems, understand the partners and SAP’s view of the world, and mesh all these data points together into a body of research that forms the blueprint for the conference content strategy.

From there, Steve’s team hunts for and wins world-class storytellers to share insights and experiences matched against these customer pains, then curates and crafts conference agendas. It is this six-month process that sets Eventful Conferences’ quality apart from all others. In addition, Steve is responsible for managing the SAP relationship for Eventful Conferences and identifying and driving the startup strategy into each new space.

Steve joined The Eventful Group, the company whose North American assets were acquired in 2016 by ASUG, in 1998. He co-founded the U.S. operation and built the South African and Singapore offices. An entrepreneur and start-up dynamo, Steve’s background was in sports marketing as a player agent, brand manager, and sponsorship consultant. He holds a degree in history from the University of Cape Town, with a post-graduate degree in business management and a degree in education from Rhodes University. Steve lives with his beautiful wife and three young children in Marin County, California.

Thomas Wailgum | VP of Marketing

Tom is responsible for the strategic direction and management of ASUG’s integrated digital marketing programs. The marketing team’s mission is to understand, inform, and prescribe relevant solutions to ASUG members that ensure their business success and long-term engagement with the ASUG community. His team collaborates with multiple internal and external partners to elevate the awareness of the ASUG brand and deliver quality leads for sales, as well as ASUG events and programs.

Tom joined ASUG in 2011 after spending more than a dozen years in editorial roles at International Data Group’s award-winning CIO magazine and At CIO, he covered top executives at the Central Intelligence Agency, ESPN, IBM, the New York City Police Department, Starbucks, Toyota, UPS, Wal-Mart, and more. His Enterprise Software Unplugged blog (which covered SAP, Oracle, Microsoft, and others) was widely read for its insight and irreverence.

Tom earned a Bachelor of Science in magazine journalism from Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.

Jeffrey Word, Ph.D. | VP of ASUG University

Jeff is responsible for delivering easy-to-consume, high-value user education. He has more than 25 years of global leadership experience in business and IT strategy. During his 17 years as an executive at SAP, he drove key aspects of many strategic product and technology initiatives, including SAP HANA, SAP NetWeaver, and the SAP Developer Network. He is also the world’s best-selling author of SAP-related books, with over a half-million books sold.

Dr. Word earned his Ph.D. in information systems at the Manchester Business School. His research focus was on event-driven process design and next-generation enterprise architecture. He also earned an MBA in international management from the Thunderbird School of Global Management and a bachelor’s degree in European studies and Spanish from the University of Oklahoma.
