As SAP customers modernize finance operations and accelerate SAP S/4HANA migrations, payments infrastructure has emerged as a critical focus area.

A recent survey conducted by ASUG in collaboration with J.P. Morgan, captures insights from 107 ASUG Members directly involved in treasury and payments operations to understand how organizations approach finance modernization. The findings point to clear momentum. Most organizations report some level of automation in place and see clear value in embedding financial services directly into SAP workflows. At the same time, progress remains uneven. Manual processes, bank integration complexity, skills gaps, and security concerns all constrain how deeply automation can be applied. These insights highlight a central challenge facing enterprises today: while the value of modern payments infrastructure is well understood, determining how to modernize effectively remains complex.
